Moscow says two Ukrainian drones attacked the Kremlin
Press Service of the President of Russia reported that on the night of May 3, Ukraine tried to strike the Kremlin with two drones.
On the night of May 3, a video was published in the district groups in social networks, in which a column of white smoke rises against the background of the Kremlin.
The district’s telegram channel reported that local residents heard a “pop” in the Kremlin area, which “was similar in strength to the roar of thunder.” In addition, they saw sparks in the sky. After the “clap,” people with lanterns were noticed near the Kremlin wall. The lighting on the Kremlin embankment was turned off at that time.
There is no independent confirmation of the Russian authorities' report. In Kyiv, they gave a rather vague comment on this (it is below).
The Moscow authorities and law enforcement agencies did not comment on this. On May 3, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin imposed a ban on the use of UAVs in the city.
What they say in the Kremlin
“Tonight, the Kyiv regime made an attempt to strike with unmanned aerial vehicles on the Kremlin residence of the president,” the Kremlin said. Two UAVs were allegedly involved in the attack.
“As a result of timely actions taken by the military and special services with the use of radar warfare systems, the vehicles were put out of action. As a result of their fall and the scattering of fragments on the territory of the Kremlin, there were no victims and material damage, ”the press service added.

The Kremlin called the drone attack “a planned terrorist attack and an assassination attempt on the president, carried out on the eve of Victory Day and the May 9 Parade, at which foreign guests are planned to be present.”
“The Russian side reserves the right to take retaliatory measures where and when it sees fit,” the statement says.
What they say in Ukraine
Press Secretary of the Ukrainian President Sergei Nikiforov gave with the BBC pretty vague comment. From his words, one can conclude that Ukraine was not involved in the alleged drone attack on the Kremlin, but he did not say this directly.
“We have no information about the so-called night attacks on the Kremlin. As President Zelensky has repeatedly stated, Ukraine is directing all available forces and means to liberate its own territories, and not to attack others,” Nikiforov said.
He also condemned the Kremlin's use of the word "terrorist attack" to describe what happened. According to him, the terrorist attack was the destruction of the entrances of houses in Dnepr and Uman, “and what happened in Moscow obviously escalated the situation before May 9.”

“Attempt on Putin” where he was not
The Kremlin called the drone attack an “attack on Putin,” although the Russian president was not in the Kremlin at the time. He was at his residence in Novo-Ogarevo.
The press service of the head of the Russian Federation stressed that Vladimir Putin was not injured as a result of the attack: "The schedule of his work has not changed, it continues as usual."
