At the Moscow airport detained 40 Israeli citizens
About 40 Israeli citizens were detained at the capital's Domodedovo airport, the reasons are still unknown, they reported.Interfax"at the Israeli embassy in Moscow.
“We are promoting good tourism and trade relations with Russia and are confident that these issues will be resolved in the best possible way in the future,” the diplomatic mission added.
At the Russian Embassy in Israel, Interfax, commenting on the situation with the detention of Israelis, was told that from the beginning of 2019 to December 1, more than 5,5 thousand Russian tourists were denied entry into this country.
“We are talking, among other things, about tourists, about our citizens who arrive in the country for tourism purposes: they have paid round-trip tickets, hotels and vouchers, the corresponding amount of financial resources necessary for the duration of their stay in Israel. At the same time, the Russian side does not comment on decisions made by the relevant Israeli authorities at the places where Russian citizens cross the border,” Alexander Gavrilov, press attaché of the Russian Embassy in Israel, told the agency on Wednesday.

When asked by Interfax whether the detention of Israeli citizens was a response to the denial of Russian tourists to Israel, the embassy did not answer.
Since 2008, a visa-free regime has been in effect between Russia and Israel.
On the evening of December 18, the publication reported that most of the Israelis detained at Domodedovo airport had already passed border control.
According to an informed source, additional checks were carried out, documents were requested.
Israeli Channel 12 reports that all 46 detained Israelis have been released.
On Tuesday, December 17, Israeli media also reported that Israelis were detained at Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports due to their lack of “required entry documents.”
