Reuters news agency David Brunnstrom tweeted a photo of a poster by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States in the Washington Metro.

Some of the text on the poster was written in Russian, some - in English. Authors of advertising made a mistake in their coordination, writes Rain.

The banner says: "Your knowledge of foreign languages ​​is vitally important to our national security."

Literally, this phrase translates as "Your knowledge of foreign languages ​​is vital for our national security."

In advertising, the English verb agreed with the noun in Russian is used in the plural instead of the singular. In the correct version, instead of are should be is.

In the summer of 2018, the CIA was looking for Russian-speaking employees. In one of the most closed divisions of the department - the operational directorate - a vacancy for an interpreter opened. The CIA was willing to pay him up to 160 thousand dollars a year. An open recruitment of staff with knowledge of the Russian language CIA also conducted in September 2017.

Apparently, knowledge of the Russian language is becoming increasingly popular in foreign intelligence services, notes Kommersant. Earlier, the British MI5 and MI6 also recruited Russian-speaking employees by announcement: their duties included listening to telephone conversations and translating articles from newspapers. It is worth noting that the CIA is now looking for not only workers with knowledge of Russian, but also those who are fluent in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Farsi and Dari.

The future employee of the American intelligence will have to pass a psychological test and a lie detector test. Candidates must be prepared to keep secrets. The agency urged not to tell relatives and friends about the resume sent to the CIA, says the description of the vacancy.
