The City of New York intends to introduce reduced MetroCard tariffs for low-income residents of the city. This rule is spelled out in the preliminary draft budget for 2019 year, writes Curbed new york.

“Access to subways and buses is an important economic component for New Yorkers who rely on transit to get to work, school, and the doctor.
