Three American women disappeared in Mexico: they arrived there two weeks ago

Two sisters from the Texas border town and another woman reportedly went missing after traveling to the Mexican city in February to sell clothes at a flea market. Read more about the incident told the publication Fox News.

Marina Perez Rios, 48, and her younger sister, Maritza Trinidad Perez Rios, 47, have not been in contact since February 24 after a trip to Montemorelos, which is located in the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon.

Their friend, 53-year-old Dora Alicia Cervantes Saenz, was also with them.

Two sisters from the small town of Penitas (Texas). It is unknown where Saenz is from.

Penitas police chief Roel Bermea said the women's families have contacted Mexican authorities who are investigating their disappearance. The State Prosecutor's Office is also involved in the disappearance of women.

The FBI and US Customs and Border Protection allegedly also know about the missing American women.

Bermea said that the husband of one of the women spoke to his wife on the phone when she traveled through Mexico on February 24, but after this conversation, he could not get through to her and became worried.

“Since the husband could not contact his wife, he went to the police,” Bermea explained.

The police chief said the women were driving in a mid-1990s green Chevy Silverado and the city they were heading to was about three hours from the border.

Many questions remain about the disappearance of the three women. This story resonates with kidnapping of four Americans who went to Mexico for plastic surgery.

Two out of four were killed by the Mexican cartel after the van they were traveling in was shot at several times in the border town of Matamoros (Tamaulipas). A horrific CCTV footage from the area showed Americans being driven away from the shooting site in a pickup truck. In addition, an innocent Mexican woman was killed.

Two survivors were found in a wooden shack off the Gulf Coast after a massive search by Mexican soldiers and members of the National Guard.

Later cartel apologized for the act of violence against the innocent and stating that it was against their rules. The cartel handed over five members to the authorities who they said were involved in the shooting and kidnapping.

About 112 Mexicans have gone missing across the country, but the only people looking for them are family and friends.

The publication notes that the lack of manpower, equipment and training in Mexico does not allow the authorities to identify the tens of thousands of bodies found.
