The US authorities confiscated $ 20 million in cash, which they found hidden in a bed frame under a mattress in an apartment in Massachusetts.
The authorities believe that the money is connected with the TelexFree financial pyramid, which affected more than a million people, says Air Force
American law enforcement authorities followed the Brazilian Kleber René Riserio Roca, who was charged for links to the financial pyramid.
During a search of his apartment in the city of Westborough and money was found.
Roca was arrested on charges of conspiring to launder money.
According to prosecutors, Roca is one of the links in the scheme for transferring millions of dollars to Brazil via Hong Kong.
TelexFree is one of the largest financial pyramids in Brazil, which has collected approximately a billion dollars from its clients. The company operated in different countries of the world.
Officially, the company sold IP-telephony services. However, in fact, she earned money by attracting people who wanted to sell her communication packages and place her ads. They had to make contributions to the company for this opportunity, and TelexFree then paid them money.
The company took money for payments from the funds brought to it by new people who wanted to sell its products. Moreover, these were often friends and relatives of those who already “worked” for TelexFree.
According to the American law enforcement agencies, thousands of people thus advertised the company's services on the Internet.
