In Miami, fixed a new type of fraud through fake marriages

A new case has arisen in the materials of the Miami Federal Court related to charges of fictitious marriages between Cuban citizens and illegal immigrants.
The conviction mentions at least 15 people, mostly Cubans. According to court documents, three of them were arrested in Miami. This is not the first time that Miami residents of Cuban origin receive money from immigrants for entering into fake marriages. For immigrants, such an illegal procedure is a chance to get a green card, and in the future - citizenship.
Marriage with Cubans is preferable for many immigrants, because the law allows relatives of Cubans to obtain permanent residence, rather than the right to temporary residence.
Two similar cases recorded last year. Then the Federal Court of Miami brought several Cubans for the registration of marriage in exchange for money. One of the accused allegedly received $ 10 thousand for a fictitious marriage with Venezuelan.
In 2016, the defendant was brought before the court, and in the period from 2002 to 2012, she was married 10 times. Often, court documents do not indicate the amount that immigrants paid for marriage.
In the 2011 year, 15 residents of Georgia were accused of such a crime, 12 of whom were Cubans by birth.
