Restaurant chain closes in Los Angeles: shoppers insulting staff due to masks
Owners of Hugo's Tacos, a Los Angeles-based restaurant chain, have announced that they are temporarily shutting down because their employees are being abused and harassed by visitors who don’t want to wear masks. This was reported in the official Instagram a restaurant.
The restaurant management stated that employees were insulted and called names, threw objects at them and poured drinks.
“We are exhausted by the constant conflict with guests who refuse to wear masks,” the chain said in a statement.
The management notes that the mask does not symbolize anything but the desire of a restaurant chain to preserve the health of its employees. Despite the conflicts, the owners tried to fight for the need to wear masks. Two weeks ago, an Instagram page appeared statement that visitors without masks will not be served.
“An important reminder for all taco lovers: no mask, no tacos! Stay safe and help us keep our employees healthy by wearing your masks while you order."

But nothing happened.
“Both of our restaurants are going to take a break from work. We've lovingly served you for the last 15 years and hope the Los Angeles community comes together to solve this problem so we can feel safe and reopen soon,” the page reads.

After the closure took place, restaurant owners thanked people for their support.
“We have been amazed by your support. Thank you to the entire community willing to #wearamask for the safety of others. We wish you health and peace,” the restaurant chain wrote on its Instagram account.
The owners also noted that people brought cards and flowers, leaving them on the shelves at the entrance to restaurants.
Recall that earlier Governor of California Gavin Newsom made wearing a mask mandatory in public places condition for residents of the state. You need to cover your face not only in public places, but also in stores, as well as in restaurants.
