The first case of Zika virus infection recorded in Los Angeles
A woman from Los Angeles County became the first local resident who sexually infected Zika virus.

The man's first symptoms of infection appeared in November, when he was in Mexico; the woman did not travel with him - the virus appeared in her after he returned.
The woman is one of nine California residents who have sexually infected Zika virus from 2015, and the first in Los Angeles County.
Since 2015, an 122 case of Zika virus has been reported in Los Angeles. Of these, a 121 person became infected with a virus through a mosquito bite while traveling to areas where the virus is prevalent.
Concern about the Zika virus began to grow in 2015 and 2016, when it became known that the infection was affecting newborn babies, causing them to develop microcephaly, a disorder in brain development.
The Federal Department of Health and the departments in the states issued warnings about the dangers of trips to countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, where mosquitoes were found that carried the virus.
In California, an 2015 virus case has been recorded since 634, according to the latest government officials. Most patients became infected with the virus while traveling.
Only about 18% of these cases were recorded in the 2017 year, indicating a decrease in the incidence of the disease.
