27 October in Los Angeles on the eve of the largest American film market American Film Market will be the Russian Film Week, organized by ROSKINO with the participation of the online cinema Tvzavr, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

The American viewer will see films selected for screening by the curators of the project - General Director of ROSKINO Ekaterina Mtsituridze and Head of the Special Projects Department of the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California (USC) Alex Ago, reports the press service of ROSKINO.

We are glad that ROSKINO’s partners this time are the film school of the University of Southern California, one of the best universities in the world, where many industry professionals come from,” said Ekaterina Mtsituridze.

The program of the Week includes Russian full-length films produced by 2016 of the year, marked by festival prizes and interest in international markets: “Duelist” (dir. Alexey Mizgirev), “Good Boy” (dir. Oksana Karas), "Rag Union" (dir. Mikhail Mestetsky), “Zoology” (dir. Ivan Tverdovsky), as well as short films “The Kid” (dir. Vlad Kozlov), "Father and boy" (dir. Evgeny Sinelnikov), "Brutus" (dir. Konstantin Fam).

One of the important events of the Week of New Russian Cinema in Los Angeles will be the presentation of the first Russian science-fiction blockbuster in modern history about an alien invasion, “Attraction” by Fyodor Bondarchuk - part of the edited film using new generation special effects will be presented to the professional public.

“Following the box office success of Stalingrad abroad, we are paying special attention to international markets. Therefore, we are initially filming our new project “Attraction” with an eye not only on Russian distribution, which in itself is important, but also with an understanding of its international potential. The presentation of the already assembled part of the film in the United States, at the Week of New Russian Cinema in Los Angeles, has special meaning for us. It will be followed by negotiations within the American Film Market, which will allow us to have feedback with both our potential buyer and the viewer. We are pleased to cooperate with ROSKINO on this and all other international platforms. The success of each individual project also contributes to the overall success of Russian cinema,” said Fyodor Bondarchuk, producer, director, co-owner of Art Pictures Studio.

After the presentation of the “Attraction” project, the general producer of the film, co-owner of Art Pictures Studio, Dmitry Rudovsky, will answer questions from professionals. At the filming stage, “Attraction” has already been sold to many territories and, which is unprecedented, will be released simultaneously in Russia and China on 10 thousand screens.

The premiere of the New Russian Cinema Week in Los Angeles will be held in prestigious cinemas: ArcLight Hollywood, Laemmle Monica Film Center, as well as in the cinemas of the University of Southern California USC (New York Film Academy, NYFA, Los Angeles Campus).

New Russian Cinema Week in Los Angeles 27 October in the Arclight Hollywood movie theater will open one of the best Russian films 2016 of the year - «Дантянт» Alexey Mizgireva (producers Alexander Rodnyansky, Sergey Melkumov). Shows specifically for American students and faculty

As in the New Russian Cinema Week organized by ROSKINO in 2013, several special shows are scheduled in university cinema halls specifically for American students and faculty members - at the University of California (USC) at the School of Cinematic Arts Complex and at the New Film Campaign in Los Angeles Academy.

The films “Duelist” (dir. A. Mizgirev) and “Zoology” (dir. I. Tverdovsky), as well as short films “Baby” (dir. V. Kozlov), will be shown at universities. "Father and boy" (directed by E. Sinelnikov) and "Brutus" (directed by K. Fam). After the screenings, Q&A sessions with the filmmakers will be organized.

The short film “Brutus” is the second part of the historical “Witnesses” trilogy, an almanac that also includes the novels “Shoes” and “Violin”, united by a common concept and dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Holocaust.

"Brutus" tells the story of the tragedy through the eyes of a German shepherd. War, human meanness and cruelty separate a dog named Brutus from his beloved owner, the Jewish woman Rosanna (Oksana Fandera). Coming from a kennel to a Nazi officer named Hirst (Philip Jankowski) - through a process of brutal training and training - a harmless pet turns into a killer beast. The film is based on the story of the same name by Czech writer Ludvik Ashkenazy.
