In Los Angeles, metro employees tested a new security system at Seventh Street / Metro Center as part of security enhancements on transit lines, writes Los Angeles Daily News.
The device was tested Thruvisproduced by a British company Thruvisionresembling a set of boxes. This device checks people for the presence of explosives or firearms.
Scanning does not reveal the anatomical details of passengers, like some scanners at airports. In addition, the system works passively, and people do not need to stand in queues, as when passing inspection at airports.
According to the developer’s company, the technology can detect weapons or contraband using safe and non-invasive visualization.
