In London, a man with a knife attacked passengers on the subway: there are victims

A man with a knife attacked passengers in a moving train of the London Underground, not far from Hackney Central station in the east of the British capital. The attacker is detained, the police say about one wounded.

British transport police, who manage the London Underground, report an injured person during an attack during the evening rush hour, around 18: 00 local time, in a train approaching the station. He is hospitalized. The attacker is arrested, writes Air force.

As expected, the life of the wounded does not threaten.

Eyewitness Hazel Orton told the BBC about what happened:

“I was on the train, approaching Hackney Central. Suddenly a crowd of people ran past me. There was a lot of screaming and noise, and the alarm went off. We arrived at the platform, and people started shouting that we needed to get out as quickly as possible. I was shocked. Looking to the right, I saw a man lying on the floor. He was breathing heavily and holding his chest, on which a wet red spot was spreading. He looked like an Eastern European, a worker, and was wearing a white helmet. I didn’t see a man with a knife or other victims, just a crowd of people running out of the station,” she said.

The movement of trains along the branch was suspended, the roads in the area of ​​the incident were blocked. Around 20: 00 local time metro administration announced the resumption of traffic.

British transport police appealed to anyone who saw anything suspicious at Hackney Central station at that time, asking them to tell about what they saw.

“A man attacked passengers on a train passing through Hackney Central with a knife. He was detained by police, but it appears that several passengers were injured. The train has been evacuated,” wrote freelance journalist Nick Renaud-Comillat.

Ambulance and police cars are visible in the station area.
