The Congress recognized the Holodomor as a genocide of Ukrainians

More than thirty congressmen from the Democratic and Republican parties acted as co-authors of the resolution.

The US House of Representatives unanimously adopted a resolution in which the Holodomor 1932-1933. recognized genocide of the Ukrainian people.

This is on Facebook reports the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States.

“Thus, today both houses of the US Congress have adopted a decision in which the Holodomor is recognized as genocide of the Ukrainian people,” - emphasizes the embassy.

It is noted that the production part of the document contains recognition of the conclusions of the US government commission regarding the Famine in Ukraine (dated April 22, 1988) that “Stalin and his entourage committed in 1932-1933. genocide against Ukrainians."

“Like a similar resolution that was adopted by the US Senate on October 3 of this year, the document also condemns the systematic violations of human rights, including the rights to self-determination and freedom of speech, committed by the Soviet government against the Ukrainian people. "Our deepest condolences are expressed to the victims who survived the Holodomor and their families, and we also call for the dissemination of information in order to raise awareness in the world about the artificial nature of this tragedy," - said in a statement.

More than thirty congressmen from the Democratic and Republican parties acted as co-authors of the resolution. The resolution was submitted to 8 this June.

Commenting on the adoption of the resolution, the President of Ukraine said that this “Without a doubt, a historic decision now by the entire US Congress.”

We note Poroshenko during his speech at the general debate of the 73 session of the UN General Assembly called on the UN General Assembly to adopt a declaration on the Holodomor.

We will remind, earlier Poroshenko declared the need for adoption in Ukraine of the law on responsibility for non-recognition of the Holodomor and the Holocaust.
