Famous MP and journalist died in Kiev

The director of the communications department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Artem Shevchenko, said that Dmitry Tymchuk’s wife had turned to law enforcement agencies, who had found her husband’s body with a gunshot wound to the head.

“In 12.15, a woman called the police and reported that she had found her husband’s body at a place of residence with a gunshot wound to the head. The conclusions of the investigative team in more detail with the versions, some clarifications can be said later, ”Shevchenko said.

Three versions of the investigation

According to Shevchenko, law enforcement officers are considering three versions of the death of the People’s Deputy, writes “Public".

“It’s one of three things: either murder, suicide, or careless handling of a weapon,” he answered when asked about the version of the deputy’s death.

He added that the body of Tymchuk was found in his house, the operational investigative team is working at the scene.

Subsequently, the head of the National Police of Ukraine, Sergey Knyazev, told reporters that upon the death of a people's deputy in Kiev, the police opened criminal proceedings, notes “New time".

According to him, all other information will be provided later, when the police will complete an inspection of the scene. Now the forensic doctor and experts are also working at the site.

“There are a number of working versions, among which are an accident, careless handling of firearms, versions of a criminal nature will be considered as well. He was not alone in the apartment at the time the offense was committed, so now the testimony from a citizen who was present at that time is collected, ”Knyazev said.

Previously, MP Anton Gerashchenko in his Facebook wrote that Tymchuk inflicted a "fatal wound" during the cleaning of premium weapons. However, Gerashchenko subsequently deleted this post from his page and wrote that all possible versions are now being considered.

According to the journalist Denis Kazansky, the version of careless handling of the weapon looks unlikely. Kazansky said that a man with such military experience as Timuchka knew the mechanism for cleaning weapons.

“I’ll say for sure that this cannot be an accident. It is either suicide, or it is just murder. I do not believe in such a story that a person who has almost been 20 for years both in Iraq and in Libya, had such experience, accidentally shot himself, ”said Kazan.

Dmitry Tymchuk was born 27 June 1972, in the Russian city of Chita. His father was an officer of the Soviet troops and served in Germany, so Dmitry spent his childhood there. In the early elections to the parliament in 2014, Tymchuk was elected a people's deputy on the list of the “Popular Front”. Since December 2014 has been a member of the Rada Committee on National Security and Defense.

Dmitry Tymchuk is on the list of 322 citizens of Ukraine against whom Russia imposed sanctions in November last year.
