In California, the ghost town of Cerro Gordo, built in the 19th century, was put up for sale.

Cerro Gordo is located in the south of the Sierra Nevada mountains, its area is more than 120 ha.
For decades, an abandoned mining town was owned by the same family, but now they decided it was time to sell it.
The owners want $925 for Cerro Gordo. According to the agent handling the sale, the ghost town has attracted a lot of interest, with some potential buyers wanting to turn it into a theme park, others into a marijuana town.
Cerro Gordo appeared after the discovery of silver in the region in 1865 year. For some time the city was the largest producer of silver and lead in California.
“In its heyday there was an average of one murder a week here. This is truly part of the Wild West,” said the agent selling the city.
After the fall in prices for lead and silver and other failures, including fire, Cerro Gordo’s economy slowed down, and over time the city became empty.
22 buildings have been preserved on its territory. Now the city hosts tourist excursions for those who are not afraid to get to it 13 km on a dirt road.
