The most fabulous California town. A PHOTO
California's Carmel is a terrific town, like a revived illustration from a fairytale book. Eva Schillinger for publication His conducted a "tour" in this amazing city.
Carmel-by-the-Se-si (Eng. Carmel-by-the-sea), which is often called simply Carmel - a small town in California, USA. It is located near the city of Monterey, on the Pacific coast, in the Gulf of Carmel. Carmel was founded in 1902 year. And in the 1906 year, after the San Francisco earthquake, artists, musicians, photographers, writers and other representatives of the creative professions came together to make Carmel a kind of art capital of California. It is not surprising that the town liked them so much, because the Bay of Carmel is an incredibly beautiful place.
In 1924, a man named Hugh Comstock first appeared in Carmel. He came to visit his sister, and soon after his arrival he met Mayota Brown. Miss Brown made and sold cute rag dolls she called Otsy-totsy. A year later, the couple played a wedding. But Mayotte did not give up her hobby, which by then had turned into a fairly profitable business. There were so many orders that the dolls filled the whole house. Then Mayoota asked her husband to build a small house for her in which she could make a shop. Mr. Comstock was not an architect, but he drew well and had a general idea of construction. He built an unusual house, on which he was inspired by the drawings of British illustrator of children's literature, Arthur Rackheim.
Locals liked the Comstock creation so much that many of them wanted something similar. Hugh Comstock lined up a queue of those wishing to live in a fairy tale. Over the next five years, he built a lot of cute little houses, and at a ridiculous price. Some cost the hosts less than 100 dollars. By the way, today the price of the individual reaches 4 million dollars. Over time, the fabulous architectural style became something of a basic requirement for the houses in Carmel and the main highlight of this city, thanks to which it became famous throughout the world.
Thousands of tourists come to town every year and actively share photos of this real fairy tale in social networks.
