In California, 21 paramedic suspended from work for fraud

The Labor Compensation Division suspended the activities of 21 health worker in California due to fraud.

The total number of medical workers on the staff involved in fraud and dismissed for this reason this year has already reached 73, writes ABC.

Some of the disqualified health workers and the essence of their fraud:

Christopher King: he and his wife organized a fraudulent scheme with 40 insurance for millions of dollars, drawing other doctors and pharmacists into her. More 13 000 patients and 27 insurance companies have become victims of this scheme. In April, 2016, King pleaded guilty. A man is a co-owner Monarch Medical Group, King Medical Management and One Source Laboratories, whose staff prescribed treatment to patients that they did not need, in order to appropriate insurance funds.

Marisa Shermbek Nelson: 26 July she pleaded guilty to conspiracy with orthopedic surgeon Munir Uvayda. During the fraud, operations were performed on nearly two dozen patients who were told that they would be performed by Uwayda, but his assistant operated on him instead, who had never attended medical school. At the same time, Uvayda received money for the alleged operations.

Dolfus Dwyne Pierce II: found guilty of insurance fraud by prescribing procedures to patients that they did not need, many of which were not even performed, but insurance companies were billed for them.

Julio Diaz: wrote prescriptions to patients for narcotic drugs without medical indications for their use.

Edward Balbas: 5 May pleaded guilty to insurance fraud and making false bills to 165 for services that were not rendered or were not necessary. Medic had to pay insurance companies 650 000 dollars.

Randall William Tonelli: the pharmacist was selling narcotic drugs without a proper prescription, and at the same time re-sticking their labels on other drugs to disrupt their actions. He lost his pharmacist license after the trial.

Candelaria Valdez: was found guilty of violating the rights of the patient.

Helen Chang: California Medical Board stripped its licenses for incompetence and gross errors in treating a patient.

Rafffiel Arvon Norwood: pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, after which he lost his medical license.

Mark Anderson: was convicted of sexual harassment.

Jerry Tabuio: pleaded guilty to conducting the operation without a license.

William Richard Bailey: Bailey lost his license after being convicted of tax evasion. He was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison, and also has to pay more than 500 000 dollars to the retestation.

James Francis Murphy: convicted of fraud and income tax evasion. He was sentenced to four years in prison and lost his medical license.

Matthew Cole: convicted of conspiracy to obtain narcotic drugs by deception and forgery.

Joanne Benzor: convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol. Her medical license was revoked between May 2012 and June 2017, and was subsequently restored with restrictions.
