In which states is it best to live for people with low income
Being poor is not easy, but the environment plays a big role in how difficult your life can be.
Edition GOBankingRates looked at a number of factors across all states—such as individual income tax rates, average ACT scores, and the average price to buy a home—and identified 10 states where the poor have an easier time living.
10. Michigan
A great place where you can buy a house cheaply, and then plan your budget while living in it. The state is in fourth place in terms of average mortgage payment, and also ranked fourth in cost of living.
9. Maine
In Maine, low crime rates and high average ACT scores (obtained on tests for American colleges). But the state ranks fourth in the high cost of groceries.
8. Iowa
Not only does Iowa make 10 the best state for the lower class, it’s the best state in the country for the middle class.
7. Indiana
The state of Indiana is notable for its low cost of living and low housing prices; here too, the crime rate associated with property is below average. Indianapolis is one of the cheapest cities for tenants.
6. Kentucky
Kentucky was listed in this study because of the many low-cost options in the housing market.
5. New Hampshire
New Hampshire is one of the best states for the poor in America. The state has the lowest poverty level.
4. Ohio
Both Toledo and Columbus are some of the best cities to live in if you're making minimum wage.
3. Vermont
The third largest state for the poor. The Vermont economy is out of recession and has the second largest social welfare in the country.
2. West Virginia
Staff number 11 in terms of per capita spending, but it is the housing market that puts it in second place overall in this study. You never buy a house cheaper. West Virginia has the lowest average home price and average mortgage in the United States.
1. Pennsylvania
The state in the northeastern United States is the best in this study, despite the fact that it did not make it to the top five in one category.
