In June, 224 000 created new jobs in the US: in which areas were jobs added

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, US companies added 224 000 new jobs in June, exceeding the forecasts of experts who expected an increase in the number of jobs in the country on 160 000.

The unemployment rate increased slightly - to 3,7%, while the share of the employed working population remained virtually unchanged and amounted to 62,9%. Average hourly earnings rose 6 cents to $27,90. Over the year, average hourly wages increased by 3,1%, which fell slightly short of the predicted 3,2% growth, writes Fox Business.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics report showed a slower-than-expected growth in the number of jobs in the private sector. There, in June, all 102 000 jobs were added, although the forecasts mentioned 140 000.

The most noticeable increase in jobs occurred in the field of professional and business services, which added 51 to 000 jobs; in health care, where 35 000 jobs were added for the month; as well as in the field of transport and housing, where in June 24 000 new jobs were created, writes Fox.

“This is a great time for workers looking to change jobs. There is an opportunity to increase wages and find better jobs with a growing number of companies offering job-training so workers can improve their skills and therefore their pay,” said Robert Frick, corporate economist at Navy Federal Credit Union.

Areas with the highest growth in the number of jobs:

Professional and business services: In June, 51 000 jobs were created in this industry, after a slight increase in May (24 000). In the first half of 2019, the growth averaged about 35 000 seats per month compared with the average monthly increase in 47 000 last year.

Health: In June, 35 000 jobs were added. Over the past year, 403 000 jobs have been created in the healthcare sector. The majority of job growth in June occurred in two areas: outpatient medical care (19 000) and hospitals (11 000).

Transport and logistic: the sector created 24 new jobs in June, and 000 in the last 12 months. In June, there was an increase in jobs among couriers (158), and in air transport (000).
