In India, the natives killed a missionary from the United States
Residents of one of the Andaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal killed an American who allegedly was a missionary and preached Christianity.
Fishermen, who brought him to the North Sentinel Island, reported that the local aborigines killed him with arrows from their bows and left the body on the shore.
Pick up the body is not easy, because the inhabitants of the island do not come into contact with the outside world and are extremely aggressive in trying to penetrate their territory.
Formally, the North Sentinel Island is ruled by India, but the authorities of this country do not interfere in the life of the Centinelles.
27-year-old John Allen Cho from Alabama, according to local media, has visited the Andaman Islands several times, where he preached Christianity.
"Police believe Cho had previously visited North Sentenelle Island at least four or five times with the help of local fishermen," journalist Subir Bhaumik, a long-time follower of events on the archipelago, told the BBC.
“Adventure awaits,” reads the caption under the last photo published on Instagram by the American.
According to some reports, John Cho 14 November already tried to reach the island, but then he failed. He tried again two days later.
“Several arrows hit him, but he continued to walk along the shore. The fishermen saw the natives dragging his body on a rope. They got scared and ran away,” said one of the local residents.
Indian authorities prohibit contact with islanders who are not immune from infectious diseases, and visiting the island is a criminal offense.
In 2017, Indian authorities decided that even photographing and filming Aboriginal Andaman Islands could turn into a three-year prison sentence.
The police reported that several fishermen had already been arrested for illegal delivery of an American citizen to the island.
According to various estimates, the number of indigenous inhabitants of the island, who live in complete isolation from civilization, is no more than 150 people.
