The State Duma of the Russian Federation proposed to forcibly take away the property of Russians who left the country

The leader of the State Duma faction of the Russian Federation “A Just Russia - For Truth” Sergei Mironov said that only “obvious traitors” are leaving Russia against the backdrop of sanctions and war, and proposed forcibly confiscating their property, reports political press office.

The war in Ukraine provoked two panic waves of Russians leaving. In early spring, hundreds of thousands of people hurriedly left the country due to rumors of a possible border closure. By the end of 2022, more than 500 people have left Russia, according to The Bell. The authorities of the Russian Federation do not disclose the exact number of those who left and did not return.

Mironov, commenting on media reports that about 15 millionaires will leave the Russian Federation before the end of this year, noted that this number could be higher if Western countries did not impose sanctions on wealthy Russians.

“The West has made it too clear to everyone: no matter how much you renounce your Motherland, no matter how much you help Ukrainian neo-Nazis, you will still remain an outcast for them,” said the Russian deputy.

At the same time, according to Mironov, in the current conditions, “obvious traitors” or those who earned their wealth illegally are leaving Russia.

“Although one is easily combined with the other. So, I see only a positive thing in the fact that these gentlemen are depriving us of their presence. The air will be cleaner,” the politician believes.

At the same time, Mironov noted that Russian President Vladimir Putin in March signed a decree according to which Russians who have left or live in so-called unfriendly countries cannot dispose of their real estate in Russia. However, the deputy proposes to extend the norm of the decree to all those who left the Russian Federation, regardless of direction.

“As experts note, millionaires who have fled now are choosing Europe or the USA less and less often. They may end up in a neutral or even friendly country, which our government, for example, for some reason considers the Maldives to be. The essence of their action does not change. I think it makes sense to extend the restrictions to all travelers, regardless of where exactly they sharpened their skis,” added the State Duma deputy.

According to a Levada Center survey, as of the end of March, every tenth citizen wanted to leave Russia.

Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin on Monday, June 19, said that Russian citizens who left the country can still return to their homeland, but “it may soon be too late,” reports “Фокус".

“Given what is happening, it is right to finally turn on your head: today there is an opportunity to return, tomorrow, with the hysteria being whipped up in Western Europe, it may no longer exist,” he wrote, commenting on statements by Czech President Petr Pavel, who called for “intensive monitoring of those living in Europe Russians."

According to Volodin, after the provocative statement of the President of the Czech Republic, citizens of the Russian Federation should urgently think about returning to their homeland.

“Our citizens who still remain in Western countries need to think about where they went, what they found and what awaits them,” the State Duma speaker wrote.
