In Philadelphia, an SUV at full speed crashed into a stop: 3 people were killed, one of the victims was decapitated

Three people were killed, including two pedestrians, after an off-road SUV crashed into a SEPTA station in Kensington, Philadelphia on the night of Feb. 21. The driver of the SUV also died in the accident. CBS.

Police say they found no skid marks or any indication that the driver of the SUV tried to stop before crashing into the wall of an Allegheny SEPTA station. Officers on duty at Kensington Avenue and Allegheny Avenue saw and heard the car move east along Allegheny Avenue at "very high speed" around 2:45 am.

The officer says the SUV was on Allegheny Avenue, crossed Kensington Avenue, jumped over a curb and crashed into a turnstile attached to the SEPTA building before crashing into the building.

The building suffered serious damage as a result of the crash. The turnstile was blown off its frame and a large crack, 4 to 4 meters long, formed in the bricks of the building, Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

“Right in front of the car was the body of a man. This body is clearly decapitated. The body is clearly mutilated and appears to be somewhat burned," Small said. Eyewitnesses described the accident as sudden, chaotic and horrific.

“I was standing across the street and the guy went through the intersection at about 120 km per hour or more, and I saw him hit the median, fly over the median and hit the wall,” said Matthew Foulke.

“It was actually a surreal moment,” the witness said. “The way the car rushed through the intersection was actually impossible to see.” It was like I didn't know what I was looking at. He drove through the intersection at 110-130 km per hour and just drove straight into the wall.”

Another witness added that the car was probably moving faster.

The driver, believed to be male, died at the scene along with two other pedestrians. A 53-year-old SUV passenger was taken to hospital in stable condition. The car also caught fire after it crashed into a building.

Small says the entire incident was filmed in real time by police cameras from multiple angles. SEPTA police are also at the scene and say they have a lot of cameras.

The SUV was towed from the scene, and a large area of ​​the front of the car was just a mangled piece of metal.

Trains bypassed Allegheny Station on the morning of February 21, but then services reopened Allegheny Station.
