The child was looked after by a man who was renting a room in the same house, an old friend of the child’s mother. It is he who is the owner of the dog who lived in the house for a long time, writes Daily Mail.

According to the man, he put the girl to bed and then fell asleep himself in another room. When the mother of the child returned home, she saw that her friend was sleeping and went to look at the baby.

Seeing the incident, the woman called 911. According to the operator, she screamed into the phone and could not explain what had happened.

Animal control officials put the German Shepherd Dog to sleep. According to the mother of the deceased child, the dog lived in the house from the birth of Paige, she also often played with her eldest daughter, and they never noticed any aggressive behavior on the part of the animal.

Moreover, the dog even looked after the baby when she was in the car seat for several minutes before or after the trip.

At the conclusion of the investigation, the police did not find any evidence of careless or unlawful actions by any person in the house. No charges have been filed.
