The Israeli military has blamed an "air threat" in the Red Sea area, possibly on Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement, which is known to use drones.
Egyptian army spokesman Colonel Gharib Abdel-Hafez said that in the early hours of October 27, an "unidentified drone" crashed into a building adjacent to a hospital in Taba, a city on the border with Israel. As a result, 6 people were injured.

Later, another shell landed near a power plant in a desert area of the city of Nuweiba, located about 70 km (43 miles) from the border. This was reported by two Egyptian security sources who are still gathering additional information.
Taba and Nuweiba, located on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, are popular among tourists.
Eyewitnesses, who asked not to be named, confirmed hearing explosions, seeing smoke rising and Egyptian warplanes flying overhead.
Without specifying the location, Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the attack helicopters were scrambled when "an aerial threat was detected in the Red Sea area."
“It is our understanding that the strike against Egypt was prompted by this threat,” he added. “Israel intends to cooperate with Egypt and the United States to strengthen regional defense against threats from the Red Sea region.”
Last week, the US reported that a Navy warship in the Red Sea had intercepted Houtist projectiles that may have been aimed at Israel.
