The same “Hutsul woman Ksenia” to whom the legendary song was dedicated died in Chicago
On June 5, 2017, Ksenia Burachinskaya-Danilyshyn passed away into Eternity. The same, real “Hutsulka Ksenia”.
“Hutsulka Ksenia” is a legendary Ukrainian song that has not lost popularity for almost 100 years. It is sung to loved ones, engaged couples, at weddings, birthdays or Ukrainian holidays. But few people know that they are singing not some fictional Ksenia or a collective girlish image, but a very real girl from Sheshora. Her name is Ksenia Burachinskaya-Danilyshyn, the publication says Ukrainian People.
The author of the song is a teacher from the village of Semiginov, Stryisky district, Lviv region, Roman Savitsky. The date of birth of the song is 1932.
In those years, it was the center of Ukrainian musical culture. Active participation in the musical life was one of the strongest incentives for composing. Savitsky spent his summer vacation, as a rule, in the house of his cousin Irina Burachinskaya, who lived in the village of Sheshory in Kosovo. My sister had a beautiful daughter, Xenia, who loved her uncle Roman very much.
On one of the evenings, when the young people had fun during the holidays, Savitsky’s 10-year-old niece was chosen as the “queen” of the evening. Ksenia was very cheerful and witty, each gave some instructions, and asked her uncle to write a song so that the whole Gutsul region sang it! Soon, such a song was written, and I. Nedilsky subsequently wrote music for beautiful words. ”
In the summer of 1994, Ksenia Burachinskaya-Danylyshyn herself arrived in the village of Sheshory, who for a long time lived in the city of Chicago, Illinois in the United States. She visited the family of Nikolai Brativnik, with whom, as children, they often played.
Here she told how the "Hutsul Xenia" was born.
V. Selezinka, who conducted research work on the works of G. Savitsky, writes: “R. Savitsky grew up as a singer and composer. Stanislav willingly sang his songs “Dreamer student”, “Good Elena”, “Dream”, “Oh, dear mother”. A happy fate fell to the “Red Macs”, written in the same village of Sheshory via 3 year after “Guzulka Xenia”. And again the case about which the composer himself told the following: once in Nadvornaya they gave him a bouquet of red poppies during a concert. The singer immediately gave those flowers to the chorus girl Gale, whom he was in love with. A tear rolled down from the girl's eyes. Very soon she married another. And only then Roman learned that there is a belief: poppies are given when they fall out of love.
The songs of G. Savitsky live, each of them has its own interesting history of creation.
Golden spikelets are woven into the tight wattle of Ukrainian songs. The composer was inspired by the magical immortal Carpathians, which means that the fate of the songs is as immortal as the beauty, the incomprehensible mystery and eternity of the Carpathians.
