Chicago to raise property taxes

The average tax rate on real estate in Chicago will be about 10%, and on average, homeowners will pay 3,9-6,5% more, depending on where they live, the newspaper writes Chicago Tribune.
The tax consists of several main components: the cost of the house (determined by the office of the county appraiser); the correction factor, which is calculated each year for the state of Illinois; an exception to the intended purpose, which can reduce the overall assessment, thereby giving many homeowners a break; and tax rate.
The tax rate is determined by the amount of taxes levied by local schools in the city, town, park districts, and so on, dividing their assessed property within the tax district. Thus, the more your local governments approve of taxes, the higher your tax rate.
In the suburbs, in the north and in the northwestern part of the city, tax rates have generally declined, but homeowners can still see a general increase in their bills, because valuations have increased.
