In Brooklyn, a famous professor was beaten to death
According to police, a man killed an 66-year-old professor in his basement at home in Brooklyn.
The killer attacked Jeremy Safran, a psychology professor at The New School, at 18 Stratford Road in Flatbush at about 00 p.m., police said.
28-year-old suspect followed the daughter of Safran, after which he had a word with her at home.
Later, the neighbor saw the suspect rush into the house, and called the professor's daughter, who at the same time heard the sounds of violence coming from below.
Then someone called 911.
Arriving police found Jeremy Safran on the floor. Next to his body lay a hammer, and the attacker, meanwhile, was hiding in a closet.
The man, whose name is not reported, was arrested and taken into custody.
