Brazilian model and sniper killed in battles for Ukraine

A Brazilian model and sniper who fought in Ukraine died of asphyxiation after being trapped in a burning bunker. The edition told in more detail Daily Mail.

Talita do Valle, 39, was killed in a Russian army rocket attack on Kharkov on June 30.

Teo Rodrigo Vieira, her brother, said she suffocated after she separated from her unit and then got stuck in a burning bunker.

Douglas Burigo, 40, a Brazilian who also fought in Ukraine, died in the same attack while trying to save her.

Brother Theo said: “There were successive attacks and the battalion split up. Talita went to the bunker. There was already a fire there, and the bunker closed with her inside. Her friend returned to save Talita between bombings and also died. She died of suffocation, she was not hit by shrapnel.

He said that Talita was born in Ribeirao Preto in southern Brazil, but lived in the regional capital of São Paulo for 30 years.

She was a model and actress in her youth before studying law and then working for charities helping to save animals.

This isn't the first time she's been in combat — she's joined the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in Iraq fighting ISIS, who trained her in sniping.

Theo said his sister arrived in Ukraine only three weeks ago before she was sent to Kharkiv. The city at that time was not subjected to direct attacks from Russia, but it was still often shelled from abroad.

According to Theo, Talita sent messages from the front almost every day, saying that she worked not only as a sniper, but also as a rescuer.

According to him, she, among other things, was responsible for covering from the advancing Russian troops.

Theo explained: “Talita has always been involved in humanitarian missions with a foreign legion in some country or here in Brazil. She loved saving both animals and people. My sister has always been peaceful, real, progressive. Weapons are part of the context of war, but they saved lives. Talita never encouraged young people to take up arms. She was a peaceful person."

Ukrainian troops continue to fight bloody battles with Russia in the east, with both sides suffering huge losses.

The Russian army is slowly advancing along a small section of the front line and has captured the cities of Severodonetsk and Lisichansk in the past 10 days. Slavyansk and Kramatorsk are now the next targets after which Russian President Vladimir Putin can claim to have “liberated” the entire Donbas.

Ukrainian forces are forcing Russia to pay with blood for every meter of conquered territory. In this way, they hope to wear out Putin's army first, and then launch a counterattack to regain the lost territories.

Such attacks are already taking place in the south of the country, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are moving towards Kherson.

Kherson is so far the only regional center in the region captured by Putin's aggressors during the invasion. This city is a strategically important stronghold located on the banks of the Dnieper.

The recapture of Kherson is a big task for the Ukrainian military. Once it is resolved, it will deal a heavy blow to Russia's claims of "victory" and leave other regions of the south vulnerable.
