In a hospital in Georgia, a man was bitten by hundreds of ants, he soon died

Arriving to visit her father at a veteran hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, the woman saw that her father was covered in swollen red bumps from the bites of ants. Writes about this WSB-TV.

Lacuna Ross said that before her last visit, her father was fine and looked normal.

Ross’s father, Joel Marrable, served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. The woman also said that her father was already in poor health.

“He had cancer and didn’t have long to live anyway,” she said.

Ross said that when she asked a medical center employee about all the bites, he told her that it was because of the ants. Marraiblos have been bitten over 100 times.

“In his room there were ants everywhere, on the ceiling, walls, bed. They were everywhere,” Ross said. "The employee told me, 'When we came in here we thought Mr. Marrable was dead because there were ants everywhere.'"

The center workers bathed a man and cleaned his room, but the next day the ants returned again.

Marraible was transferred to another room, where he later died.

“He served his country in the Air Force, and I think he deserved better,” Ross said.

The hospital has taken measures to combat ants. Employees immediately took care of the veterans and took measures so that none of the residents were injured.

“We would like to express our sincere regrets and apologies to the families of veterans and will reach out to them to offer appropriate assistance,” the center said.

All bedrooms were checked for ants and cleaned by the Environmental Management Service.

Employees conduct additional visits to rooms, specially checking them for the presence of insects and ants.

The Environmental Management Service continues to process and monitor all rooms daily.

US Senator Johnny Isaacson commented on the situation.

“I am shocked, horrified and completely distraught by the news that a veteran in the care of the center was treated so poorly and with no regard for his well-being,” Isaacson said. “This patient was clearly not carefully monitored at the end of his life, and I am very sad for his family, who had to find out the conditions of his detention before anything was done. "I spoke with the veteran's daughter and expressed my deepest condolences and offered to provide any assistance to take care of her family and ensure that those who turned a blind eye to the conditions of the veterans are held fully accountable."
