Knocked down and escaped: in Arizona, a Ukrainian woman with two children got into a terrible accident
9-year-old Edward Lauter was killed and his 10-year-old brother Max Lauter was seriously injured in a crash that occurred on September 30 in Tucson, Arizona. The children, together with their mother, an immigrant from Ukraine, got into an accident - they were hit by an SUV, writes sweet james.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the woman and her two children were at a lighted and equipped pedestrian crossing when a BMW drove out and hit both boys. Edward died at the scene. An autopsy showed that he received two severe injuries, any of which could be fatal. Max suffered a broken leg and was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
The boys' mother, an immigrant from Ukraine Valentina, was not hurt. According to eyewitnesses, the BMW driver first slowed down and then disappeared. The police station said there were two passengers in his car.

The driver of the unfortunate SUV was found and taken into custody, reports KVOA... He fled from the scene of the accident, but after identifying the suspect, the police still tracked down and detained the man. According to the press release, it is Ernesto Alonso Carrizos, 39.
He was charged with second degree murder, fleeing the scene resulting in death and serious injury, refusal to provide information and assistance, and fraudulent schemes and tricks in connection with the incident.
Police said he is currently being held at the Pima County Jail.

It was later revealed that Karrizos allegedly tried to hide his crime. As writes News 4 Tucson, citing police reports, Karrizos "tried to arrange a fraudulent sale of the car, getting rid of it in another part of the city, away from his place of residence."
The report said that Carrizos "denied driving a BMW and being involved in the accident."
The documents also said that Karrizos's mother was suspected of allegedly fraudulently selling a car. She is reportedly currently in Mexico.
