Food giants Mondelez, Hershey Co, Nestle SA, Unilever and Coca-Cola Co have announced that they will need to raise prices in the 2019 year to offset higher freight costs and ingredients, writes Fox Business.

Kellogg Co. October 31 also said that profits in the third quarter declined strongly against the background of record delivery costs, but the company has not yet announced a price increase. Back in September, Kellogg noted that her new Eggo Waffles taste would be 12% more expensive than other similar products.

Dirk Van de Put, executive director of Mondelez International, said earlier this week that many retailers initially reluctantly agreed to price increases, but now they see that this is necessary.

He added that during the summer the company had already raised prices for some of its brands, in particular Fig Newtons, Wheat Thins and Triscuits.

A spokeswoman for the company noted that prices for other products would also increase at the beginning of 2019, to offset freight and production costs.

Earlier this month, Hershey CEO Michelle Buck announced the company's plans to raise the price of chocolates and chocolates next year.

Hershey's and other food manufacturers have suffered this year due to record delivery costs due to a shortage of trucks, as well as rising prices for some ingredients.

Unilever and Nestle SA, two of the world's largest consumer goods companies, also announced plans to raise prices for some of their personal care products.

Nestle will also increase the price of bottled water to offset rising costs for its packaging and distribution.
