USCIS Introduces Work Visa Application Fee

US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that for each H-1B registration submitted by the petitioning employer, the agency will charge a non-refundable fee of $ 10.

The innovation will take effect after the agency implements an electronic registration system.

The registration fee is part of the efforts of the entire agency to modernize and more efficiently process applications for housing or work in the United States.

The H1B program allows companies in the United States to temporarily hire foreign workers in those professions that require the application of a combination of highly specialized knowledge and a bachelor's degree (or higher in a particular specialty) or its equivalent.

Following the introduction of an electronic registration system, petitioners wishing to file applications must first register with USCIS electronically during the designated registration period, unless the request is suspended.

“These efforts will help implement a more efficient H1B limit selection process,” said Ken Cuccinelli, Acting Director of USCIS.

“The electronic registration system is part of an initiative to modernize our immigration system, while preventing fraud, improving verification procedures and strengthening the integrity of the program,” he added.
