USCIS Extends Conditional Green Cards
US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) extends green card validity for Temporary Conditional Green Card holders who have duly completed Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions of Residence, or Form I-829, Petition for Employer to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status, for 48 months after expiration card actions.
This change went into effect on January 11, 2023 for forms I-829 and effective January 25 for forms I-xnumx.
“We are making this change to accommodate the current processing times for Forms I-751 and I-829, which have increased over the past year,” USCIS said.

USCIS will extend the validity of the green card by 48 months for those who have recently filed Form I-751 or Form I-829. The service said it will issue new notices of receipt of the immigration form (receipt notice) to those holders of temporary conditional green cards who are eligible for renewal and whose cases are still pending.

These notices of receipt may be submitted along with the expired green card as proof of retention of status while the case remains pending with USCIS. By submitting an updated receipt notice along with an expired green card, you retain the right to work and travel for 48 months from the expiration date printed on the front of the expired green card.
