USCIS will conduct a webinar for stateless persons located in the United States
US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) invites everyone to participate in the discussion on the issue of stateless persons in the United States. The webinar will take place on Tuesday, December 5th at 14:00 pm ET.

On December 15, 2021, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced its intention to strengthen protections for stateless persons living in the United States. DHS recognizes that a significant number of stateless individuals are in the United States and face significant challenges and barriers because they lack recognized citizenship. They often do not have access to basic documents such as birth certificates or documents or proof of their non-citizenship.

On August 1, 2023, USCIS issued guidance to address the concerns of stateless persons present in the United States and to clarify the circumstances under which USCIS may consider a person stateless for immigration purposes. USCIS also announced a new dedicated internal statelessness review process and the preparation of an internal report upon request by the decision maker. This guidance became effective October 30, 2023.
During this meeting, USCIS will provide an overview of its stateless policy and its implementation process. Then there will be a question and answer session. Case-specific questions, off-topic questions, or active litigation matters will not be considered.
