Trump said the US will demand that Europe return the money allocated to aid Ukraine.
On September 3, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to demand that European countries compensate the United States for military aid and ammunition previously supplied to Ukraine during the ongoing war with Russia. His remarks could signal a possible pause in arms deliveries to allies, according to reports. Reuters.
In a social media post, Trump sharply criticized reports that US ammunition supplies had been significantly reduced due to the war in Iran. He claimed, on the contrary, that the United States was increasing production and building up additional weapons stockpiles.
"We are taking them for ourselves, for the United States, instead of selling them to others, but sales to allies will soon begin again," Trump wrote.

"Hundreds of billions of dollars were given to Ukraine and NATO for free, even though Europe should have paid for it if it had been asked. Now we will demand this money, albeit belatedly," he added, placing the blame on the administration of his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden.
Last year, the US and NATO developed the "Ukraine Priority Needs List" initiative, under which European countries pay for the supply of American weapons to Ukraine.
Last month, it was reported that the US military expended a significant portion of its stockpile of precision-guided long-range missiles during the conflict with Iran, raising concerns about the military's readiness for possible future clashes.
Both conflicts – in Ukraine and over Iran – and the economic turmoil they have caused could impact whether Republicans retain control of both houses of the US Congress next year.

On September 2, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent partially blamed the rise in oil and gas prices not on Russia, which started the war and attacked a sovereign state, but on Kyiv, due to Ukraine's successful strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.
"We are currently experiencing an energy shock because of the war in Ukraine, because Kyiv has decided to target Russian energy facilities and processing plants, which is driving up prices around the world, and because of the conflict with Iran," he said in an interview with Fox News.
