Hurricane Irma weakened to the 2 category, but not for long

Hurricane Irma weakened to the 2 category on Saturday morning, but is likely to renew its strength in the next two days.

The National Hurricane Center said that Irma’s steady winds continue to reach 117 km per hour on Saturday morning at 11. It is expected that the hurricane will still remain powerful throughout the weekend.

The storm was about 1963,4 km from the Leeward Islands and was moving west at a speed of about 24 km per hour.

The hurricane is also starting to make the expected turn to the south-west in the next few days due to high pressure and may gain momentum when it approaches the Lesser Antilles next week, weather forecasters added.
