Scientists have found an unexpected way to be happy ... not with money
You cannot buy happiness for money, but new studies show that exercise can make us happy, writes Fox News.
Researchers at Yale University and Oxford, whose results were published in The Lancet Psychiatry, found that regular exercise can make a person much happier.
Researchers found that people who exercise regularly had fewer “days of poor mental health” than those who did not exercise. In fact, those involved in exercise felt as good as inactive people who earn $ 25 more each year, MDLinx reported.

“The difference in the burden of mental health between people involved in a popular (team) sport and those who did not play sports at all was about the same as between those whose income differed by more than $ 25,” according to a study led Sammy Chekroud of the Oxford Center for Human Brain Activity.
Exercise has long been associated with a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and diabetes, but experts noted that few studies have been conducted to evaluate their association with mental health.
To correlate physical activity with happiness, researchers analyzed data collected by more than 1,2 million adults across the country who completed a survey by the Center for Behavioral Risk Factors and Disease Prevention in 2011, 2013, and 2015. This analysis is considered the largest study of its kind published in the journal.

Participants were asked the following question: “Now, thinking about your mental health, which includes stress, depression and problems with emotions, how many days out of the last 30 (that is, during the actual month. - Approx. Ed.) was your mental health poor? ” In addition, participants were asked whether they were engaged in physical activity and which one.
Active people reported that within 30 days the number of serious mental disorders was about 1,5 times (or 43 percent) less than those who were not involved, which corresponds to about 18 days a year.
All forms of physical activity (from child care, housework, fishing, using a lawn mower to cycling, going to the gym, running and skiing) were associated with a lower mental health burden. Nevertheless, team sports are associated with the largest reduction in the number - about 22,3 percent. Other activities associated with large reductions include cycling (21%), as well as aerobics and gym use (20%).
Researchers noted that more exercise is not always better. The data obtained indicate that exercises of 45 minutes three to five times a week showed the best result.
