University of South Dakota teaches nursing for free: who can enroll
The University of Mary (North Dakota) is breaking new ground in its traditional full-time freshman nursing program. Already this fall, 30 students will be able to attend free of charge Nursing Academy, writes KXNet.

Education is free thanks to the cooperation between health organizations and the university.
“We were able to partner with CHI St. Alexius and also with Sanford Health to make this possible. And in return, both of these organizations will get a number of graduates ready to join their workforce in less than three years,” said Dr. Billy Madler, Associate Dean of Nursing at the University of Mary.

Programs like this are meant to encourage people to get into nursing as the country continues to grapple with a shortage of nurses.
The idea behind this program is for students to "pay for" their education by helping other North Dakotas as they become nurses.

Although Academy of Nursing already filled, the University of Mary will continue its other nursing programs of 3, 3,5 and 4 years.
Applications to the Academy of Nursing will be considered again for the next intake of students in the fall of 2024.
