Composer Gennady Gladkov has died: the author of the music for 'Well, wait a minute!', 'Gentlemen of Fortune' and other masterpieces

Soviet and Russian composer, People's Artist of Russia Gennady Gladkov died at the age of 88. He is the author of music for the cartoons “The Town Musicians of Bremen” and “Well, Just Wait!”, reports Meduza.

His assistant and manager Malik Aminov said that a decision on the date and time of farewell, as well as the burial place, has not yet been made.

Speaking about the cause of death, Aminov recalled that 10 years ago Gladkov suffered a stroke. “He was 88 years old and suffered a stroke. Most likely, all of this together was the reason,” he said.

Gennady Gladkov is the author of music for popular films, cartoons, plays and musicals. He became widely known after the cartoon “The Bremen Town Musicians” was released in 1969, of which he became the composer. Gladkov worked on the sequel to the cartoon “In the Footsteps of the Bremen Town Musicians” (1973), where he also sang the role of the Stupid King. He wrote music for such animated films as “Baby and Carlson”, “Blue Puppy”, “How the Lion Cub and the Turtle Sang a Song”, “Well, Just Wait!” and many others.

Gladkov was born in 1935 in Moscow into a family of musicians.

I have been involved in music since childhood. While studying at the Moscow Conservatory, in 1961, he wrote music for the play “Childhood Friend” at the Sovremennik Theater. Then he started working for films.

In 1965 he released his first album, “The Wizard of the Emerald City.”

Gladkov’s music can be heard in the films “Gentlemen of Fortune”, “Point, Point, Comma...”, “After the Rain on Thursday”, “The Man from the Boulevard des Capuchins”, “12 Chairs”, “An Ordinary Miracle”, “Dog in the Manger”, “ New Year's adventures of Masha and Viti."
