Famous Hollywood actor Rutger Hauer dies

Famous Hollywood actor, star of the movie "Blade Runner" Rutger Hauer died at the age of 75 years.

He passed away on July 19 at his home in the Netherlands after a short illness; the funeral took place on July 24.

Hauer was born in the Dutch city of Brekelen in 1944 year. He made his debut in the theater in the year 1955, and first appeared in the movie in the year 1968.

Hauer has starred in more than 150 films, winning the Golden Globe twice - for his roles in Escape from Sobibor and Vaterland. In 1981 he received the Golden Calf at the Netherlands Film Festival for all his roles in general.

The general public Hauer is best known for playing the role of replicant Roy Batty in Blade Runner by Ridley Scott, released in 1981.

In 2013, the actor became a knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion - this is the second highest status award in this country.

Hauer continued to actively withdraw until his illness. In particular, at the end of 2019 is expected to release the mini-series "Christmas carol in prose" (an adaptation of the same name by Charles Dickens) with his participation.

He was also known as a film director, screenwriter and producer, and was actively involved in public affairs as a sponsor of the environmental organization Greenpeace. Rutger Hauer is the founder of the Starfish Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to AIDS awareness.
