Ukrainian Bermuda Triangle: how is the village where Russian equipment was bombed 14 times in a month

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the village of Chernobaevka near Kherson has become one of the most famous in Ukraine and beyond. Russian troops have captured the Kherson airport near this village and are using it to land troops and deliver weapons for the purpose of further offensive. However, this place became famous due to the fact that the Ukrainian military has already defeated Russian helicopters and troops of the military who tried to land there several times. It was in Chernobaevka that one of the Russian generals died. Ukrainian servicemen have already reported 14 cases of successful attacks (within 1 month) on the Russian military in Chernobaevka. In the Russian Federation, it was only once mentioned that the village was "taken under control." How do local residents live there, the publication found out Present Tense.

Military experts suggest that Russia is trying to gain a foothold here and use this place as a springboard for further attacks on Nikolaev and Odessa.

On the Internet and military folklore, Chernobaevka has become the butt of jokes and a symbol of resistance. However, for the inhabitants of the village itself, this story does not sound so fun. One of them, Ivanna, said that her fellow villagers had to worry every day.

“In the area of ​​the airport, every day, Russian vehicles ride along the bypass road. As they say on the news, they go, they are knocked out, and they go new back and forth. But what worries me the most is that memes are posted around the world like "Chernobaevka - we can repeat." More than 110 houses in the village have been destroyed to such a state that they need to be rebuilt,” she complains.

There are 10 thousand people in Chernobaevka. In addition to 110 completely destroyed houses, many stand without windows, doors, even without a roof.

“We have, thank God, few victims. After the shelling, there were also few dead. But they drive through the streets, shine their lanterns into courtyards to create panic. This happens in the evenings. Every time new streets. They drive - to catch up with horror. Almost all the stores were smashed in our country, and there are very few operating ones left. People work at their own risk. And there were more than 30 of them. Absolutely everything was taken out, ”the girl shared.

Ivanna says that the Russians still continue to transfer equipment to the village.

“They drive both new vehicles and damaged ones – they are completely different. They can pull there wrecked helicopters that are not working - just pull them off. There was an impression that they were dragging everything there so that they would hit him, and they themselves would simply run into the fields so that they would not be beaten. Information is different, but confirmed very little. You understand: the occupied territory is such happiness,” she notes.

The girl says that by the sound you can accurately determine that it is an arrival or departure.

“Sometimes you clearly understand during an impact: this is an arrival, because when the ground trembles, it is an arrival. And when a hard hum is heard, it’s a crash. And then we hear that missiles have arrived in Nikolaev,” she says.

Ivanna said that the situation in the village is critical.

“The supply of food comes only from the city. So far, there is something more or less at the bases, but everything is already at a critical level. There are no medicines, operations in hospitals are carried out only in cases where there is an acute situation. Planned patients endure everything, because there are not enough medicines. Salt is running out - there is already very little of it. There is no sugar. There are already very few basic products. Hygiene products too. Trucks with humanitarian aid, which are standing in Nikolaev, are not allowed into Kherson, they are blocked. Some cars just disappear – they don’t make it,” she explains.

It is also impossible to leave the village now: either the roads are mined, or there are fights going on there. People who decide to go do it absolutely at their own peril and risk.

“A week and a half ago there was a road through Stanislav. People somehow go to a detour through Snigirevka. But, again, this is very dangerous, because there are so many mined fields. People travel at their own risk. Some of them are coming,” the narrator continued. “Our military advises everyone to stay at home so that no one goes anywhere, because we are interfering with their work. When a civilian car is driving, Russian military vehicles can get behind it, and they get confused between them and go. If you remember the first days of the war, they said that, perhaps, they would launch a human shield on Nikolaev in order to get there. There is no need for a human shield here - people are afraid, they run and thereby help the Russian troops to move forward.

“When the airport was shelled, the Russians ran and ran right through the villages, because the airport is three kilometers from residential buildings - it's not that far. The military unit ends - the fence, and residential buildings are already coming. It's also very close. Where there is a military unit, there are no houses - they were simply demolished. And when there were strikes on the airport, the Russians ran through the villages and shot several people. They fired at random from machine guns. Just for living people, ”recalls the interlocutor.

She said that the airport was under reconstruction for a year, now it has been completely destroyed.

“He didn't work for a year. Now the airport is destroyed. It will need to be rebuilt. There they put their equipment, and Ukrainian soldiers worked on them. There's nothing. At the military airfield, the situation is also not very good. In the military, it's the same. Only the barracks stands intact. They even live there: they come in, turn on the light. They are all great. They eat in the kitchen where our soldiers were sitting. The Russian military live in our Chernobaev military barracks,” Ivanna is indignant.

Although, the narrator noted, the behavior of Russians in Chernobaevka is slightly different from their behavior in other areas. In her opinion, this is because the region was one of the first to be occupied.

“When people queue for shops, because we have a very large village, there are several shops, and therefore the queues are very long. The Russian military is also coming to buy in stores. By the way, they pay in hryvnia. They stand and try to talk to men, offer cigarettes, try to communicate. But people don’t communicate with them, they just move away from them,” says Ivanna. - It was such that a Russian humanitarian aid came, handed out food. But here, too, this is: some people take, but most do not take anything from them. They try to talk politely, wish you a good day. There were precedents that they went into houses just to wash.”

“The Kherson region was one of the first to be occupied. And this, in fact, is one area where they have a more or less normal situation for Russian television pictures, where they can film and show something. Because they were trying to film a video of how they were distributing humanitarian aid,” the interlocutor recalls. “They tried to distribute, but people came out and staged a very large rally. Then the occupants got into their cars and left. And the former mayor of the city, Vladimir Saldo, went to a pro-Russian rally and stood with flags, congratulating that “finally Kherson has become Russian.” Even this happened.”
