In the hall of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine there was a fight between deputies from several parties.

After voting for the law on renaming the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, MP from the “Opposition bloc” Nestor Shufrich ran up to the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiyu and demanded re-ballot, writes “Ukrainian Truth".

“The decision has been made, don’t freak out, because I’ll just have to cross you, driving out the demon,” Parubiy said.

After that, Shufrich tore a poster from the rostrum, where there was a call to bring to justice the Ukrainian businessman Viktor Medvedchuk, who is the godfather of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

As a result, Popular Front deputy Yuri Bereza attacked Shufrich. Yuriy Boyko and deputies from the “Opposition Bloc” also joined the fight. Bereza was supported by deputy Igor Guz and other faction colleagues.

The fight did not last long, but was very active.

As a result, representatives of the “Opposition bloc” were pushed aside into the passage between the rows, and the poster with Medvedchuk was glued back to the podium. Paruby announced a break in the meeting.

Subsequently, Shufrich explained that he demanded a re-vote, because during the voting for this decision he noticed several button coders - deputies voting not only for themselves, but also for their colleagues.

He explained the decision to tear down the poster with Medvedchuk by saying that there is no place for “art” in the Rada.

“I consider it indecent to desecrate the tribune of the Verkhovna Rada with some kind of art. If you have a complaint, contact law enforcement agencies,” Shufrich said.

December 20 Verkhovna Rada voted for the draft law No.5309, according to which the Ukrainian Orthodox Church The Moscow Patriarchate should change the name, indicating its membership in Russia.

According to the document, a religious organization (association), which is part of another structure, the leading center of which is located in a state recognized by law as such that it carried out military aggression against Ukraine and temporarily occupied the territory of Ukraine, is obliged to display the corresponding affiliation in its full name.

In particular, as people’s deputies noted in their speeches, the UOC-MP should change its name to “Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.”
