Ukrainian 3D puzzles from wood collected over $ 400 thousands on Kickstarter
The wooden toys that Ukrainian start-up Ugears makes are very popular among Kickstarter users. Otherwise, there is no way to explain that the project during the campaign gathered 20 more times than requested initially. Now the company has more than 400 thousand dollars in the account, and the initially announced amount was equal to 20 thousand dollars.
The Ugears team claimed a fairly modest amount for a reason. The initial goal of launching on Kickstarter was not so much getting funding, as the brand promotion in Western markets. “We want the trademark from Ukraine to be recognized on the global mass market, and Kickstarter is the“ front door ”, said the project’s founder, technical designer Denis Okhrimenko.
But as a result, the team managed to attract money and get good reviews.
The project, which was then called Ukrainian Gears, was launched last June. It was originally planned to stamp the puzzle out of cardboard. But, after working with this material, Denis realized that the tree would fit better. Wood cutting is an expensive process, so the project began to look for an investor. Ukrainian Gears attracted the first investments from Gennady Shestak, director of the publishing house Egmont Ukraine.
Previously "Forum" I told about another Ukrainian startup that has attracted almost a million dollars without a finished product.
