The Ukrainian who killed 7 bikers on the road in New Hampshire, was under the influence of drugs

A Ukrainian living in Massachusetts who was responsible for the accident that killed seven motorcyclists in New Hampshire was under the influence of drugs during the incident.

A report from the Federal Vehicle Safety Authority states that the tests confirmed the fact that 23-year-old Vladimir Zhukovsky was under the influence of an unspecified drug when his June pickup 21 crossed the yellow dividing line on Route 2 and hit the motorcyclists in Randolph (New Hampshire ). Zhukovsky also admitted that immediately before the accident, he reached for a drink, which is why his concentration on the road decreased, and the report did not specify what kind of drink he was talking about, writes Fox News.

Zhukovsky, who lives in West Springfield (Massachusetts), did not plead guilty and remains behind bars. The seven victims were members of the Jarheads Biker Club, a New England biker group consisting of marines and their spouses. Zhukovsky and his lawyer have not yet commented on information about drugs. The man has been charged with negligent homicide.

After the accident, it turned out that Zhukovsky had repeatedly violated the rules of the road and was held accountable for it.

In May, Zhukovsky was arrested at a Walmart parking lot in Connecticut after a test for the presence of alcohol in his body turned out to be positive. Zhukovsky’s lawyer in this case, John O'Brien, said his client denied that he was then intoxicated and intends to dispute the charges.

Connecticut officials twice warned Massachusetts about violations of Zhukovsky. Later, investigators from Massachusetts determined that the Department of Motor Vehicles of the state was negligent and did not take away rights from Zhukovsky, although there were all grounds for this, given the history of his violations. The head of the vehicle department of Massachusetts resigned due to the fact that he did not terminate the rights to drive a commercial vehicle issued by Zhukovsky.

The Westfield Transport company, for which Zhukovsky worked on the day of the crash, also has a rather disturbing story.

According to the Federal Vehicle Safety Administration, over the past month 24 in the work of Westfield Transport Inc. more than 60 violations were identified.

About one in five inspections of the company's vehicles resulted in federal investigators issuing temporary orders to suspend the carrier. The company's unit non-performing rate is 20,8 percent, a figure nearly four times higher than the national average of 5,5 percent.

Federal reports show that company drivers were caught in seven cases of unsafe driving, including speeding. In March 2018, the company was punished for having found narcotic drugs or amphetamine in the possession of its two drivers.

Zhukovsky has a long history of law violations. In addition to the Connecticut incident, police in Texas reported that Zhukovsky also ran into a wagon in a Houston suburb in June 2019. Zhukovsky told the police that he had been cut, which caused him to lose control of the car. He was not charged.

According to official documents, Zhukovsky was also arrested for drunk driving on 2013 in Westfield, Massachusetts. He was given a trial period of one year, and his driver’s license was suspended for 210 days.

According to the father of Zhukovsky, his son is a citizen of Ukraine and the holder of a green card. The family has been living in the USA for 13 years.

The trial file on Zhukovsky Jr. contains a letter dated 23 of June from an officer of the Immigration and Customs Service dealing with deportation issues, in which he asks for details of his conviction in the drug case in 2017.
