Ukrainian soldiers carried out a "daring operation", evacuating two Canadian translators and their families from Afghanistan, as well as other Afghans. The edition told in more detail with the BBC.

Ukraine evacuated a total of 360 of its own and foreign citizens. Among them were translators associated with Canada and their families - 19 people in total.

The rescue operation, coordinated by the Ukrainian military, could open the way to Canada for other Afghans fleeing the Taliban. It took place after the last Canadian evacuation flight.

Canada agreed to continue to accept refugees, but if they can independently leave Afghanistan for third countries. Canadian authorities have asked the Ukrainian government if it is ready to transport refugees from Canada to Kiev, where they will await resettlement.

A group of 19 people was put on a Ukrainian military plane, which was in Kabul within the NATO mission. In Pakistani Islamabad, they took a charter flight to Kiev.

Former Canadian ambassador to Kiev Roman Vashchuk expressed the opinion that Ukraine agreed to the rescue mission in large part because of the support it received from Canada during the war in Donbas.

Since the beginning of the conflict, Canada has provided Ukraine with about $ 700 million in financial assistance, and since 2015, 200 Canadian troops have been training Ukrainian military personnel on a rotational basis.

Another explosion
