Ukraine revoked accreditation of CNN and Sky News journalists for reporting from Kherson

On November 13, a post appeared on the official Facebook page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that “a number of media representatives who violated the rules of work in the war zone had their work permits revoked, and their press cards were canceled,” reports Yahoo.

The General Staff did not name specific media outlets whose journalists lost their accreditation.

According to Detector Media sources, at least six journalists who worked with film crews, including CNN and Sky News, had their work permits revoked.

“Recently, some media representatives, ignoring existing prohibitions and warnings, without coordination with the relevant commanders and public relations services of military units and before the completion of stabilization measures, held information events in Kherson. Such actions are a gross violation of the requirements of Order No. 73 of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dated March 3, 2022, as well as the relevant instructions of the military command,” the General Staff said.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Operational Command "South" Natalya Gumenyuk announced her intention to revoke the accreditation of CNN and Sky News journalists in a conversation with Detector Media.

“The ban exists for everyone - this was announced on the page of the Operational Command “South”, this was officially announced. The media in Kherson should not work yet due to the dangerous situation. I now have information about the withdrawal of accreditation from Sky News and CNN film crews. There is also information about one Italian media outlet, but I am waiting for more information,” she said.
