Teacher from Brooklyn arrested for soliciting nude photos from children
A Brooklyn high school teacher has been arrested for using overly explicit photos and videos of minor children on Facebook—the youngest victim is just 10 years old.
Jonathan Deutsch, an English teacher at Leon Goldstein High School, located on the campus of Kingsboro College in Manhattan Beach, allegedly searched the Internet for unsuspecting underage children, and then tried to contact the selected child via Facebook Messenger, writes New York Post.
Beginning in January 2017, Deutsch corresponded with hundreds of children through two Facebook accounts registered under the names of “Sam Morgan” and “Jay Stern”. He is accused of talking about taboo topics, at least with the 45 of them.
A man with obvious penchant for perversions wrote to many children from 10 to 16. Winning the child’s confidence, he talked about working as a teacher. When the victim began to trust him, the 34-year-old man gave instructions to perform certain actions of an intimate nature and send him photos and videos of these actions. In turn, he sent pictures of himself to the children.
In one exchange, he told a 13-year-old child that he was “a teacher whose drugs are kids.” Court documents also provide disturbing descriptions of Deutch's manipulations of his victims, including requests for role-playing games and one instance in which he instructed a 16-year-old girl to drink her own urine. He told another 14-year-old girl that he “loves her and will never leave her,” and he told a ten-year-old girl that he was actually a 14-year-old boy and wanted to be her boyfriend.
Deutsch was arrested Wednesday morning. Today he will be brought to justice in the Brooklyn Federal Court on charges of producing child pornography. If a man is convicted, he faces at least 15 years behind bars.
It seems that none of his victims in social networks was his student or student, a law enforcement source said that, of course, does not justify the behavior of the teacher.
“Protecting innocent children is a top priority for law enforcement officials,” U.S. attorney Richard Donohue said in a statement. “We will continue to make every effort to ensure that those who facilitate the exploitation and victimization of children are brought to justice.”
Education Department spokesman Doug Cohen called the allegations "extremely troubling."
“Mr. Deutsch will be suspended from working with students. We will stop paying him and will seek termination of his contract as soon as legally possible,” Cohen said.
