US scientists learn how to code memories

Experts from the United States have created an implant that will allow people with impaired memory to keep memories and not to forget.

The device is a chip with electrodes that are implanted in an important part of the brain - the hippocampus. He is responsible for memorizing information. The device operates according to an algorithm that simulates certain electrical signals, which allows the brain to transform short-term memories into permanent ones. This will allow patients not to use the damaged part of the brain and to fully use the memory mechanism. As stated by lead study author Ted Berger (Ted Berger) from the University of South Carolina, the device has been tested on some animals and nine people with epilepsy.

However, scientists have not yet learned how to “read” other people's memories — you need a device to decipher the content of electrical signals.
