The musicians of the Las Vegas festival were also armed
Band guitar player Josh abbott band from Texas performing at a country music festival Route 91 Harvest in Las Vegas, stated that the massacre changed his attitude to the issue of possession of weapons.
His group was on stage just a few hours before Stephen Paddock opened fire on people from the 32 floor of a nearby hotel, killing 58 guests and injuring more than 500 people, writes SF Gate.
“I have been a supporter of the 2nd Amendment my entire life. Until the events of last night. Now I can’t express how wrong I was,” Caleb Keeter admitted the next day.
According to him, some members of the group have licenses for carrying weapons, and at the time of the shooting several pistols were in the team bus. But they could not use them.
“They were useless. We could not use them for fear that the police might mistake us for part of a murder group and start shooting at us,” Keeter explained.
He said that the people near him were injured or killed, he himself was not injured, but during the shooting he wrote a farewell message to his parents and beloved.
The musician is confident that the US needs tighter gun control.
