Uber officially launched a taxi without a driver

Since September 14, part of Uber’s orders in Pittsburgh, Pa., Have begun accepting Ford Fusion cars equipped with unmanned driving systems.

In addition to the user, there are two Uber employees in each such car - a driver and an engineer who makes notes during the trip.

“Testing in real conditions is necessary for successful implementation of this technology. And the creation of a reliable alternative to individual car ownership is important for the future of cities, ”the report says.

Uber expects that the introduction of unmanned taxis will reduce the number of accidents that kill, according to the company, 1,3 million people per year, as well as relieve traffic on roads and parking spaces.
